Becoming a Model

We often are approached by individuals who have aspirations of working in the modeling industry. Being a model requires a range of skills and to be successful, simply looking good is not enough. A model needs to have great awareness of themselves and how they look. It is very true that personality shines through.

Becoming a model takes time and is a learnt skill. It involves working with a photographer as a team, experimenting with looks and poses, reviewing the images and learning what works for you and what perhaps doesn't’t while gaining confidence throughout the process.

I work regularly with a number of local models, many of which I have done so from their very first shoot. This allows me to work flexibly with clients. Contact us if you would like more information or even just some impartial advice.

TFP Work

TFP work or time for prints work is something that I occasionally undertake with models, generally as a free test shoot and where I think we could work together longer term.

Approaching Agencies

As a general rule a good agency will never ask you for money.They should be convinced enough of your ability and your ability to earn a fee for them too that asking for money up front is simply not necessary.

Just because an agency says no, doesn't mean another agency will also say no.

 

A model checklist

It's important for a prospective model to be honest and realistic with themselves. Remember to win paying work it is about personality and having the look that is right for the client.

The Cost of a Portfolio £350

Working over 3 stages designed to develop a model and give a range of images, with a minium of 6 images.

Stage1 ________ training in the studio

Taking around 1hour in the studio with aim of providing initial model training, from this you have images to learn from but not portfolio images.

Stage2 ________studio shoot!

2 hours in the studio working on a range of shots, including a head shot, full length using vaious props and lighting

Stage3 ________location shoot!

2 hours on location working on a range of shots and different looks
